Manchester United have officially launched their home kit for the 2014/15 season.
The kit is coloured red and features a white and rounded collar while the sleeve cuffs also feature the same design as the collar. The home kit is completed with simple
white shorts and black socks with a red band at the top.
The shirt has welcomed the return of a white ribbed crew-neck collar last seen in the 2011-12 season. The botom of the collar has A Chevron finish which was used on early 20th century shirts. The new home kit is sponsored by Chevrolet who signed a seven year sponsorship deal back in July 2012.
There is a button hidden in the collar which is engraved with the club name – Manchester United. Like on all of Nike’s 2014 shirts a Red Devil pennant tab is included under the collar behind the neck while a quote “Youth, Courage, Greatness” is added to represent the club’s values.
Across the back is a series of Chevrons in an engineered mesh material to emphasise the importance of the shape of United. The Manchester United crest is embroidered on the left side of the shirt while the Nike logo is on the right. A print of the Chevrolet logo is printed in the middle centre of the shirt.
As with all of Nike’s 2014 kits, the Dri-Fit technology is included designed to draw sweat away from the body to the exterior of the shirts and shorts where it quickly evaporates enabling players to play at their best. Laser cut ventilation holes have also been included on the sides of the shirt. The shirts are again made from recycled polyester using the likes of plastic bottles to construct the kits.
